Bug Sweeper Services - Case Studies
The World of Spying Devices
We have been operating as counter surveillance specialists operating in the private sector for over 20 years.
We have found hidden cameras in homes, public areas, offices and vehicles.
The internet is now the go to place if you want to buy a spy device. This industry is not regulated therefore anyone can buy a spy bug, such as a secret camera for under £50. Covert GPS car tracers that can be managed from a smart phone are less than £100, and pinhole microphones used for listening to private conversations are available for less than £20.
We detect and find these devices on a weekly basis. From ex-partners who have stalked their partner, to Police who have used a GPS tracker to monitor the movements of someones car.
From our experience, the Police are not interested in dealing with a persons concern that their privacy is being intruded. If the issue has a sexual motive or involves young children then the Police will become involved.
Spy Camera Fitted in Bathroom
Bug Sweeper Services were contacted by a client who rented a 2nd floor apartment in a block of 6. The flat was rented from a private landlord who unbeknown to the client had his own set of keys to the property and would enter it when the occupant was at work.
On returning home from work one evening, she noticed that personal items had been moved in her bathroom. She immediately suspected the landlord of eavesdropping on her, as comments he had made to her in the past had made her feel uncomfortable and suggested he had been spying on her illegally.
She contacted Bug Sweeper Services and we discussed how we detect for the presence of hidden spying devices. We advised her how easy it was to install a hidden micro camera and equally how difficult it was to locate such a device.
She requested we attend to check her flat for a device and deal with it if one was found.
We carried out a full electronic bug sweep of the flat in London and located a mini pinhole camera in the bathroom’s air vent. The micro camera was wirelessly connected to a hidden dvr which was set to activate on movement within the bathroom, thus capturing footage of the client when using the bathroom.
We advised the client of what we had found and she immediately contacted the Police who dealt with the landlord for offences of voyeurism. We then advised the client of how she could prevent any other person from spying on her and look out for the presence of hidden bugs.

Ex-Partner Bugs Girlfriends Flat
A Birmingham based professional female client requested the services of Bug Sweeper Services following an acrimonious split from her ex-partner, and her starting a new relationship.
She suspected her ex of secretly watching her, as he had told her children details of conversations she thought she had held privately. She called us to bug sweep her flat for a hidden mic or listening device.
Following a detailed electronic bug sweep of her home, we found a covert audio microphone wired into the living room’s electrical circuit.

The spy bug was the type which allowed the ex-partner to listen to private conversations taking place remotely, subsequently recording the conversations for his own purpose.
We found a similar listening device in the client’s bedroom. Both listening bugs were deployed for a long-term capability, whereby the ex, did not require regular access to the property.
Bug Sweeper Services provide a full written report and statement for Police purposes when an illegal spying device is detected.
Office Bugged By Cleaner
The director of a London investment bank requested our electronic spyware detection service to prevent highly sensitive information being leaked out to a company that had interests in a merger that was due to take place. It was suspected that details from a series of meetings in one of the firm’s boardrooms maybe compromised.

During the night we completed a thorough electronic counter surveillance sweep of three boardrooms, two meeting rooms along with the director’s offices.
From one of the rooms we recovered a highly advanced hidden microphone planted in a piece of office furniture, that would not have been detected without using our specialist equipment.
The sophisticated audio spy bug was a bespoke piece of equipment created solely for its deployment into the room and listening into private conversations that were very sensitive. The client was informed and dealt with the matter through their own in-house security department.
Employee Steals Data By Using Electronic Hidden Microphone
Clients in Birmingham suspected an employee who was due to leave the company and work for a competitor of stealing company data and client details.
On our electronic search of the offices we were able to detect the presence of a clandestine eavesdropping device, omitting a high frequency signal.
Eventually we found a sophisticated hidden micro camera concealed in the senior managements meeting room, along with two computer key loggers hidden in the back of two senior executive’s desktop computer towers.
In consultation with the director we devised a strategy to flush out the employee responsible for planting the bugs, and he was caught soon after in possession of one of the key loggers. This individual was going to use the company information for his own benefit.
